Josh Loyens
High School Head Coach
Josh is originally from Southbury, Connecticut and is now pursuing a degree in Computer Science here in Utah. Josh was a Park City High School Player where he was named MVP and made 1st All-State his senior year. He has also played many other sports, mostly football and basketball.

When asked what he likes most about coaching, Josh says, "Providing a way to play a unique sport - that I consider the best out there - that is trying physically, competitively, and as a team". Josh jokes that he cannot actually swim and would not consider himself a "swimmer". Josh's brother Jack, also a football player, started playing for PCWP last year and the brothers bring a convincing strength to both the deck and pool.

Jeff Whipple
PCWP Assistant Head Coach
USAWP Olympic Development Program Mountain Zone U-18 Boys Head Coach
Jeff is from Arcadia, California and is Managing Partner at SilverCrest Partners. His impressive career as a water polo player began in Arcadia where he was a high school and Pacific League MVP and All-American swimmer for the 50 and 100 free. With several college team offers he chose USC where he was a star player from 1983-1987. His many 'Mosts' included MV Freshman at USC, MV Player Hawaiian International Tournament, and Most Inspirational Player. Added to this he was named All-American in 1987 and played on the US National 'B' team. Rumor has it that after college Jeff turned down an offer to play professionally in Australia.

"My favorite thing about coaching is seeing the kids improve their knowledge and ability while developing a passion for water polo". Jeff's son Matt began playing for PCWP last season and the team is thrilled that his dad decided to tag along as coach.

Kim Schofield
Assistant Age Group Coach
Kim is from Park City and is owner/operator of Itsy Bitsy Preschool. She stated playing water polo in 7th grade and along with swimming continued on throughout high school. She played as a goalie, just like her dad who actually started a Park City team when Ecker Hill pool first opened. After high school Kim was coach for the Park City High School team for one year, and then she played one year for Saddleback CC in Mission Viejo. Two of Kim's kids now play on the 12-and-under team.

"I love coaching water polo because I get to pass on the love of the sport to my kids, like my dad did for me and my sister. I love the teamwork the kids learn and seeing them work hard and it paying off".

Kim can be spotted in goal during the parent-player games. "I encourage all the parents to get in the pool with us - at least once - just to experience it. Then you can appreciate what your kids are doing and talk about it with them after practice and games".

Gary Horton
Team Manager
Gary is originally from Pullman, Washington and is a Civil Engineer and President/CEO for PEC. His inspiring list of accomplishments in the water include a spot on the National Junior Water Polo Team. He played at Murray High School and Golden West Community College and was on championship-winning teams all four years of high school and for the two years in college that he played. Gary coached Taylorsville and Skyline swimming and water polo teams, and was also an official for several years.

Gary says his favorite thing about coaching water polo is helping kids achieve their highest capability. From All-American High School Water Polo player and Huntington Beach lifeguard, to a cowboy with horses in Silver Creek… we're very grateful that Gary is back at it in the water polo world. Watch out for his 3 sons, also swimmers, who may very well be future dominant forces for PCWP and teams beyond.
